TITLE: Litigation Legal Assistant
SALARY: Based On Experience
LOCATION: Toronto, ON
LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: Full Time, Permanent
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently manage the daily operation of a busy estates practice for a Partner and a Law Clerk
- Prepare and complete all necessary documents, as directed
- Manage and track due dates and deadlines, especially in respect of litigation files
- Scan, file and e-file a large volume of documents
- Communicate professionally with all internal and external clients
- Handle administrative details with respect to correspondence, accounting, opening and closing files, billing, calendar management, e-filing etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of two years’ legal experience, preferably in litigation
- Previous litigation working experience and knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure would be an asset
- Must have successfully completed a community college level Legal Assistant / Law Clerk program
- Must have strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word 2013, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Must have strong organizational skills, meticulous follow-up and follow-through, good judgement, an ability to prioritize and pay attention to detail
- Must be self-motivated, a team player and accountable for their work product
- Client service oriented
